Exploring the coast

Tynemouth and the surrounding coastal areas of Whitley Bay and Cullercoats have so much to offer.

Boasting three beautiful, blue flag award winning beaches. You can stroll along the sands barefoot in the summer, or wrap up warm with a cup of Tynemouth Coffee Company’s artisan home roasted, award winning blend that supplies most of our local restaurants and coffee shops.

Perhaps you fancy watching the sunrise from the clear and beautifully clean waters? Or a guided tour of the hidden caves, inlets and wildlife along our unique coastline? Then look no further than CBK Adventure, who have a fantastic and affordable selection of guided adventures for you to choose from. And for the ultimate thrill seekers out there, why not book yourself a surf lesson with the world famous Tynemouth Surf Co.

Before you head for our beautiful sands, make sure you check the tides so you can make the most of the time you have by heading over to Tynemouth Tide Timetables. Only a short walk from the lodge, sits the stunning English Heritage site of Priory Castle. that overlooks the North Sea and the River Tyne. It stands majestically on the cliff side and offers sensational views for all to enjoy.

If the sea swell allows it, you can take a walk along the half mile to Tynemouth Pier lighthouse at the mouth of the north pier of the River Tyne. The views of our stunning coastline stretch for miles.
