Situated right in the heart of Tynemouth it is a mere 200 metres away from Longsands Beach, a stunning one mile stretch of golden sand, rocks, dunes and cliffs. If that isnt enough for you though you could also visit Kling Edwards Bay, a small and enclosed beach that is overlooked by the historical Tynemouth Priory. Situated right on that beach is Rileys Fish Shack, the semi portable fish bar and grill that serves local seasonal fish and seafood. Less than two years old, the fantastic quality food, location and atmosphere created there has made it a firm favourite with locals and tourists alike.
Also on the doorstep in Tynemouth Village, a picturesque collection of Victorian and Edwardian buildings, shops and restaurants. There really is something for everyone in the Village with plenty of things to do and see. Why not take a trip over the weekend and visit the stunning and recently refurbished Victorian Railway Station, with its indoor glass covered Tynemouth Market, full of stalls selling all kinds of treasures.
Only a mile further along the coast is the old fishing harbour village of Cullercoats, home to another small beach and local amenities including restaurants, cafes, pubs and transport. If wanting to go a little further you will reach Whitley Bay, the famous seaside town which has something for everyone. The beach stretches a massive two miles and leads right up to St Marys Lighthouse where you can go rock pooling and if youre lucky, witness the resident seals. Also in Whitley Bay is the Spanish City Dome, amusements, promenades, cafes, restaurants and sometimes a travelling fair.
